Landscove C of E Primary School,

Situated in a tiny village in Devon, Landscove C of E Primary School serves the needs of around 100 pupils between the ages of 5 and 11 who live in nearby towns, villages and hamlets. The school nestles on a hill next to St Matthews, a beautiful 19th century church, and is surrounded by prime farmland. There is a warm family atmosphere in the school where the worth of all who work and learn is celebrated. The school was very proud to have received the top grading of "Outstanding" in their June Ofsted inspection. The children all know each other by name and the development of them as caring individuals is very much at the heart of the school ethos.

Landscove enjoys a close relationship with Riverford Organic Vegetable Farm. The school was one of the very first in the country to switch to organic school dinners that come from the farm hot and delicious every day. They are so good they were awarded the Soil Association School Dinner of the Year Award in 2005. During the summer the school also runs a "young farmer's club" where they travel to the farm to plant, tend and harvest their own vegetables.

The soundbox is placed in the main hall of the school and will transmit the sounds of daily life as the children take footsteps through their individual learning journeys. This might involve them in physical literacy (PE for the younger children), or assembly, or music lessons or drama or.... who knows what? You can never tell what opportunities might arise or what might happen next!
